About

Who is Wai-Lam?

On a quiet morning not too long after I graduated from university, unbeknownst to me, I met a loving Saviour who wanted to make a purpose out of a life that was heading towards destruction.

Throughout my 20 years as a professional in the digital industry, I worked in web design + development, database management, game development, video + animation production, and marketing campaigns. I have developed marketing & communications strategies for big brands such as the University of Toronto, The Shopping Channel, Best Buy, Rogers, and Coca-Cola. All the while, I have freelance business in doing web and graphic design for small business owners to non-profit organizations to large corporations. At my time with U of T, I discovered something I never thought I would enjoy or even be good at – that is coaching and mentoring students in the marketing & tech industry, launching many of them into their professional careers.

Somewhere in those 20 years, while playing the one sport that I love – volleyball, I met my husband who is now the lead pastor of our church in a small town 30 minutes outside of Toronto. There is where I launched our Creative Arts Ministry that re-imaged our church, developed marketing and communications strategies, and helped pivot our church to live-stream services when the pandemic hit.

After 2 long years of the pandemic, a quiet gentle voice nudged me to slow down and rest. I took a leap of faith and left my full-time job at one of the top universities of the world to focus on my most important roles: a mom and a wife. Being the efficient-minded person that I am, hopefully I can also work on discovering my artistic style. And so, here I am.

Most drawings are  portraits in pencil, paintings of various things in watercolour, and drawings of various things in coloured pencils.

All artwork on website are not for sale. For commissioned work or workshops, contact me at hello@wai-lam.com.
